So what if you have "Shahrukh" before "Khan"...??

I never really wanted to write a post on this.. but the kinda reactions that are comin from all over prompted me doing so...

First of all.. if u're a devout fan of SRK, i advise you to skip readin this n do somethin else.. you mite hate me for reading this.. but honestly, i dont care.. go ahead if you dont care either...

The media is to be blamed for all this hype.. damn.. you idiots.. why do you just believe or follow what SRK has to say.. agreed that he was pissed off with wat happened and quite obviously a lot of fans are disappointed too.. but its a known fact that these rules ARE strict in the US.. and there's no reason to go ga-ga over this incident.. agreed that he had to spend 2 hours at the airport while he was being "checked".. agreed that he's the superstar of Bollywood.. agreed that his plans got delayed by 2 hours.. but at the end, i've only one question to SRK and all his supporters.. SO WHAT...??

USA is one country to which a lot of people would love to go to.. goin there is a dream for hell a lot of people for watever reasons they have.. everyone loves what USA can offer them with.. so wat's wrong when they are just being extra careful.. i would rather say just careful.. afterall its their own country.. n no one there gives 2 damns about what or who you are in your own country.. its their duty to have everything checked before they let a person into their country.. why do you create such a news about it... n why do you have to go on national television saying you were humiliated...!!?? didnt you see how humble our former President Kalam was...?? he never told anyone about it.. infact, the incident came to news after more than a month it happened and that too not from Kalam himself.. that is wat wise people do.. that is wat intellectuals do... and wat happened in the end.. the airlines apologised to him.. (but i would not say the US authorities would have apologised to SRK even if he had not raised this issue on his own.. he's no President or somethin to be exempted from being frisked and more importantly the airport authorities did their job for god's sake).. n the airlines themselves have gone public saying Kalam was very cooperative and the entire process went without any hassle.. that is the kinda respect you get when you're wise and humble... even Mammootty was detained earlier this year because he has "Ismail" in his name.. but he too was wise enough to go through the checks without creatin any issues...

You have a "khan" in your name.. and it jus happens to be suspicious for them.. so jus let go.. wats the big deal.. they cant let u in jus like that coz you've "Shahrukh" before "khan"... rather.. you should be ashamed that such level of strictness is not followed in India.. people there at the immigration centre were vouching for you that you're a celebrity.. but that alone cant be the reason that they can jus let u in... if thats the case, there wudnt be anyone at the immigration centre.. atleast frm the authorities' perspective..

Wat irritated me the most were the kinda statements frm the so-called bollywood fraternity.. agreed that they cant talk the other way.. but why dont you prefer to remain silent than talkin nonsense...

Juhi Chawla said "this is like Brad Pitt being strip-searched, investigated and interrogated in India".. dont worry honey.. that'll never happen with the way Indian authorities treat celebrities.. and you should be proud if that happens at all..!!

Priyanka Chopra said "SRK's a world figure for god's sake, get real".. ahh.. i see where you're gettin at.. DON alone didnt fulfill ur wishes eh.. want one more movie with him...??

Farah Khan said "If he can be discriminated, who else is left? Shah Rukh was on Time Magazine's 50 Most Influential People List. It is not only discrimination but lack of knowledge also.".. hmmm.. best friend eh...??

Kabir Khan said "Shah Rukh just happens to be a superstar so we took notice of it. It is happening everyday. You just type his name on Google and you get more hits than Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise combined.".. uh huh.. really...?? i can get the numbers too.. now lets get them rite...

Google search:
"tom cruise" gives 28,900,000 results
"brad pitt" gives 25,400,000

"shahrukh khan" gives 4,110,000
"srk" gives 3,660,000
"shah rukh khan" gives 5,200,000
"shahrukh" gives 4,270,000
"shah rukh" gives 6,580,000

all these variations together doesnt even add up to 24 million.. which is more than a million less than "brad pitt" alone..

now we know why "New York" movie was a huge huge blockbuster huh...!!

Irrfan Khan is a nice dude.. he preferred to stay away frm any idiotic reaction.. he said "We should point out loopholes in their airport security system".. kinda "rite.. watever.." his name is Khan too n he's been subjected to friskin.. so he's the one who can be realistic..

n finally Karan Johar said somethin too.. but i didnt bother to read it.. u know who he is/what he is.. or u know.. watever...

All this for wat.. jus for being made to wait till the clearance is obtained.. n he was not strip-searched.. he was not investigated or interrogated.. he was not frisked.. nor he was not asked to remove his damn shoes.. so where is the need for this cheap behaviour...!!??

Afterall.. you wanted to be in the USA for Indian Independence Day.. and you regret later sayin you should have been in India for the freedom you have here.. and end up gettin cheap publicity for your next movie... no wonder you are a witty person...!!!

But didnt you even think for a moment how nice it would have been of you had you jus let go.. and later let someone else raise the issue.. n u reactin to it sayin "Wat's the big deal..!!??"

I remember I had a blog/Michael Jackson

I'm feelin very bad about this.. real bad actually... I forgot that I had a blog..!! how dumb is that eh.. yea.. i kno.. was even reminded twice by my friends abt the blog.. n even then, i couldnt write a post.. now thats much worse.. its awful... but i really couldnt help.. was into too many things before even i could stop and realize... shifting to a new place, hectic work, transition takin place in the proj.. and more importantly no internet at home...!!! (got that a week back anyways..) I could do nothin with no internet at home.. probably that was the reason I had forgot that I had a blog.. anyways.. happy that someone reminded me again for the third time and here we go..

MICHAEL...!!! :(

I've been down with high fever since last 3 days.. been flat on bed for 2 days straight.. so I happened to come across terrible news of Michael's death only on friday.. was really shocked to hear that.. was really lookin forward to his comeback shows.. had infact written a post abt that as well.. such a genius.. and with this happenin to him.. i really couldnt think of anythin for some time.. it was jus blank.. he was undoubtedly the most popular person in the whole world atleast in the 90s.. and more importantly he was loved everywhere...!! so many people started listenin to English songs only because of him, including me.. started for me somewhere around the time when he visited India in 1996.. his were the first English songs I ever heard.. and the first song being Beat It still is on my playlist.. along with few others like Billie Jean, Thriller and Heal the World.. they've always been on my playlist.. and they'll always be..

He was the pinnacle of pop music and more importantly - Style - in 80s and 90s.. he's been an inspiration to any singer or dancer that came later.. without him, the world of music would have been a lot more different... he was undoubtedly "King of Pop" worthy... no doubt that his music/song/dance has been copied in each and every country of the world atleast once in some or the other form.. n readin this quote of his on the newspaper yesterday just left me in tears..

"If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with"..

This isnt somethin that anyone can say.. he definitely has gone through a lot.. leave alone all those allegations and other things.. but lookin at him as jus a musician who loved the world and his fans will make anyone drop a tear knowin that he's no more.. songs like Heal the World, Black or White, They Don't Care About Us touched the whole world for god's sake...!! n i jus couldnt help but watch Vh1 which played MJ's songs repeatedly...

Now its kinda funny to see the same media which once tarnished his image is jus not stoppin praising him... and pretty sad to see that it takes his death for people to remember how beautiful human being he was.. watever...

This Thriller step is jus unforgettable.. and look at the number of people, prisoners in Philippines actually, doin that here...

Cause this's Thriller, Thriller night n no one's gonna save you frm the beast about strike...!!!

You were and you'll always remain the King, Jacko... We will miss you.. RIP...

Would like to say sorry to all my friends who called me to wish me on my birthday yesterday.. they ended up wishin me "Get well soon"... pretty bad eh.. was havin really high fever.. 104 or somethin.. my personal record too... jus at the wrong time though.. anyways.. there's always a next time...!! :)

To Noida on 29th May..

We have always heard of emails from Nigeria, South Africa or some other African countries about the desperate need of help they are in.. that his/her father expired when they were still young and now are being very badly treated by the society or watever.. n that they have a lot of money in their bank account which they want to transfer to us here in India.. so that we can take that amount and deliver it to them as they cant withdraw the money at their places coz of some problems.. or watever.. most of the time, its a girl who sends mails like these.. n even i've got such mails quite a few times...

This is refundable interview security both of condition you select or not. --- I select or not.. really...?? you give me the choice of selection eh...?? :P

Your offer letter with air tickets will be send to your Home Address by courier after receiving the confirmation of interview security deposited in ICICI BANK. --- note the bank name underlined here..

The designation and Job Location will be fixing by Company HRD at the time of final process. --- fixing.. like wat.. match fixing...??

Your call letter will dispatch very shortly after receiving your confirmation of cash deposited in ICICI BANK. --- damn you.. the bank's name in caps and underlined again.. this is the third time they mention the bank.. guess the bank's got a hand in this.. that desperate eh...

You have to give the information after deposited the security money in to this email id :- lgelectronic@usa.com --- rotfl.. i couldnt control here.. lgelectronic@usa.com.. wat an email id.. huh.. dumb idiots.. dont you even have a small part of brain left in ur head...!!??

NOTE:- AFTER CONFIRMATION YOU HAVE TO SEND ME THE SCAN COPY OF PAYMENT SLIP BANK --- yea yea.. sure will do...

I jus couldnt resist but call up the numbers mentioned there.. n as usual one of the numbers was temporarily disconnected.. but damn.. i wanted some fun.. took the risk of callin the other one too.. followin is the conversation i had..

Me - Hi, I've got an email saying I have a job interview offer from LG Electronics..

Guy at the other end - Ya.. (was expectin a girl's voice.. but heard a guy's.. gotcha.. u made my day.. i'm gonna have a lot of fun now)

Me - Could I speak to Ms. Shalu Gupta.

Guy - She is busy. Please tell me how can I help you.

Me - Ya.. can u pls tell me what the job offer is about...??

Guy - This is recriutment for new LG plant at Noida...

Me - Ohh ok.. may I know who am I speaking to...??

Guy - This is RK Gupta, partner of Shalu Gupta.. (uh huh.. good.. family business eh..)

Me - Ohh I see.. you work for LG too...??

Guy - Yes.. I am the HR of the LG (yes.. "the HR of the LG".. these were the exact words that he said.. ha ha ha.. omg.. i cant believe this.. i'm talkin to the seniormost HR guy at LG..)

Me - Great.. could you please tell me the whole procedure of selection sir...??

Guy - Sorry, I'm very busy now.. the procedure is mention in the mail (ohh really..?? i never read that.. n obviously ya.. u're the HR of the LG.. u must b busy..)

Me - OK ya.. i understand.. you're the HR of the LG.. i'll read the mail.. can u pls tell me how you arrived at the amount of Rs 4570..??

Guy - That is a company confidential information.. we will tell you when you come here to attend the interview.. (uh huh.. u still expect me to come to Noida huh... poor u..)

Me - No problem sir.. and how do I get a confirmation that you've received the amount that I deposit in your account...??

Guy - You need to scan the payment slip and send it to the email id mentioned.. (i know that damnit.. i'm askin abt confirmation frm your end..)

Me - Ohh ya.. that lgelectronic@usa.com.. is it...??

Guy - Yes.. (u say Yes for this too a**hole..!!?? cant u still see wat i'm gettin at..)

Me - But how do I get a confirmation from your end sir...?? (i'm not gonna leave u until u answer my question)

Guy - We will reply to the email about confirmation.. (uh huh.. lgelectronic@usa.com has that feature too eh.. :P)

Me - Ohh i see.. good.. Can I talk to Ms. Shalu Gupta for furthur details...?? (to irritate him even more..)

Guy - Sorry.. she's very busy.. if you want any more details, please send a mail to us.. (blip.. he cut the call.. probably wasnt ready to take any more..)

I had the best 5 minutes of the day.. through out the conversation, the guy was speakin with the typical north indian accent.. n in a very hurried manner.. so it was much more funnier that u can imagine.. n naturally he was busy as he was the HR of the LG... u kno...

So please go ahead.. call the numbers mentioned there if you wanna have some fun... n let me know if u talk to Ms. Shalu huh..

I better get goin now.. gotta deposit some money to an ICICI Noida account u kno... :P

3 Songs over last 6 years...

Movies made in Malayalam have always been known for their strong scripts and intensity in the acting.. I dunno much about that as I've nt seen a lot to comment about them... but there have been 3 songs over the last 6 years which I have listened to repeatedly too many number of times... superb songs... listen to them.. u'll accept it...!!

1. Karuppinazhage (Swapnakkoodu)

2. Kaana Kannil (Police)

3. Melle Melle (Sagar alias Jackie)

All these movies have Bhavana playin lead character in them.. coincidence...!!

IPL - KKR...

What can i say here... rather.. what do i have at all to say here... i dunno... sort of pity SRK and Dada for all the crap that Buchanan is doing.. n now SRK is even lookin to sell the team to Anil Ambani or the Sahara group... really sad...

But I must really say that the match really was interesting.. KKR vs RCB.. but looks like KKR has no luck at all.. the other match was superb too.. was expecting Mumbai to win..  but the Kings took it away...

All eyes on today's matches.. to see if the Chargers can remain unbeaten or if Daredevils can stop them... n the second match.. its high time CSK does something.. gonna b a real challenge as i had earlier said...

On a lighter note.. there's a Nokia-KKR ad thats runnin these days where Chaterjee Kaaku (the old man) says.. "Iss bar tum bhi jeetoge"... got a doubt here.. guess it was supposed to be "Iss bar bhi tum nahin jeetoge"... lol...

IPL.. wat else...

Been quite a loooong time since my last post.. have been busy with some work, some new plans, new house, movies and very obviously IPL..!!

Gettin into the topic rite away... now into the second week of IPL Season 2.. and with almost 15 matches over.. quite a few teams are emerging to be the favourites for this time.. Daredevils, Royals (as usual) and the Chargers.. infact, i'm quite happy to see the Chargers leadin the table now.. i've always had a soft corner for the team.. more importantly for Gillie.. supposedly with the best-team-on-paper tag last year, they disappointed a lot of fans last time.. endin last or last but one... but this time, its been a great performance till now.. with Gillie, Gibbs, Rohit, Ojha, RP and Edwards doin great job.. Gillie especially has been great till now.. n infact there was an article sometime last week which had Gibbs' father talkin about his son's "changed" attitute.. n also abt his bad period last year coz of troubled marriage.. watever.. he's a reformed guy now doin wat he does best.. thats wat we're lookin for and thats wat the DC team's lookin for.. i have a feelin that RP's gonna excel this time around.. as he was very helpful in gettin the T20 World Cup for India which was held in SA.. maybe the bowling conditions suit him well.. with Ojha n Edwards doin well too, dont think there's gonna b a problem in the bowling department either.. i personally will b really happy to see the Chargers stay till the end, if at all they dont win the tournament...

Comin to the Royals.. ahh.. i was jus stunned wen they lost to the Challengers in their first match.. n that too very badly... i mean.. come on.. the defendin champions lose to the team which ended up last in the previous season...!!?? u gotta b kiddin me...!! not that its not possible for a team to come back strong (DC for example).. but, RC was a test-team last time.. n it aint better this time either.. but for KP's inclusion (dont think that has made much of a difference anyways..) and with their second match bein abandoned due to rain (which i was really lookin forward to.. coz of Sachin-Warne clash).. it was very good to see an awesome comeback by them against the Knight Riders.. the stunning super over decider.. jus again reminds people of how important captaincy is on the field.. Warne had no difficulty watsoever.. n the opponents KKR.. they r still to decide on who's gonna make important decisions.. is it the Phoren Baba or the Coachie or the Lordie or our very own Dildo.. u look towards the dressing room to make decisions durin the super over.. n u end up losing the match.. Warne jus proved again that he's the best captain that Australia never had... Royals is one another team which has great chances of winnin this season.. defendin champions wont let down so easily.. will they...?? ;)

Daredevils.. with possibly the best openin pair (who havent delivered as much as they were supposed to till now) and Dilshan and AB.. they have good chances too.. but i guess their bowling needs some more strength now.. spin's turnin out to b a good weapon this season.. so Vettori mite b an added advantage too...

And now.. the Super Kings.. wat do i say.. it aint been a "great" performance till now.. but not bad either.. its been OK till now.. less than OK to be true.. this is not exactly the performance we look forward frm a team which won the first 4 matches last time... so there's a to improve.. now that the highest-paid-but-dismal-performer Mr. Freddie out of the team, guess its gonna b a bit difficult to form a winning combination again.. its time Dhoni starts makin some valuable contributions with the bat too.. Hayden has been unstoppable as always.. as Dhoni said he's happy that Hayden has retired frm the International arena.. all the 3 matches that CSK have played have had very good starts by Hayden-Parthiv.. but they have failed to capitalize coz of the weak middle-order performances.. namely by Freddie and Dhoni.. though Raina has been pretty good so far.. probably Morkel shud b moved up the order n Oram shud b given chance too... bowling hasnt been great too.. only Balaji has been good so far.. watever.. the overall performance hasnt been outstandin till now.. n the real test comes wen they play against the Chargers tomoro.. n the Royals later on... hope they do good...

Ambani's Mumbai Indians too have been OK so far.. with some good performances frm Sachin, Nayar, Duminy n Malinga.. they have good chances to qualify for the Semis atleast... but i feel its a bit early to say anythin..

As I write this post, Kings XI are already 7/1 in 2 overs.. against the Royals.. Pathan vs Pathan match.. or the Battle of the Babes match.. (the word Babe is toooo much for these two.. i know.. but..) read somewhere that Babli's dream finals would be Kings vs Knight Riders.. wat the..!!?? is she even aware of the other teams around.. or how they're performin... wake up girl.. this aint a movie with the Dildo here to have ur dream final with his team.. jumpin around like a little girl for every 4 or a 6 by your team member isnt gonna help.. n Cricket aint your thing.. u've already lost the Wadia man.. n its not too far that u're gonna let ur team go away too...

And now comin to the most happenin team in SA.. not for the performance.. but for all the controversies makin rounds.. the Knight Riders.. yes.. its better I talk about somethin related to KKR thats even more popular than the team itself.. the Fake IPL Player.. goddamn.. this guy started his blog on the 19th.. n he already has 3,000 followers.. and some 32,000 Profile Visits.. there's nothin that i need to talk abt KKR.. this guy has covered every inch... its frm his blog that i've taken all those hilarious names Lordie, Dildo, Babli etc.. (http://fakeiplplayer.blogspot.com/).. but, the more i read it.. the more i start to feel that this is a prank.. probably the Dildo himself is doin all this for attraction.. as if the current attraction isnt enough.. i dunno.. could b someone else too.. hope it aint some buddin cricketer who'll lose his career for sure if he's found.. watever...

Finally.. the Royal Challengers.. wat do i say huh... they r no better than the last time (atleast till now..) with KP havin the same tag as Freddie.. n the whole team still carryin the same "Test-team" tag.. but its been good to see Dravid performin.. n i'm not sure who he directed his comment "Only players with good technique will perform well this time" at... or probably he didnt.. n its better Mallya sells off this team to someone n start concentratin on Force India or Horse Racing.. n more importantly buyin Indian items on auctions.. (yes.. beers too...)

So.. here we go.. at the end of abt 15 matches.. its been a bit clear abt the probable teams that r gonna reach the Semis.. but as i said earlier, its a bit early to decide anythin too.. T20 is such a game afterall eh...!!??

The Padmashri Unzipper..

I couldn't believe I was given Padma Shri: Akshay

Hell yea dude.. not only you.. even i'm still not able to believe how can the Government give this much coveted award to a guy like you..

What exactly was he upto at the Fashion Week.. gettin his pant button unzipped by his wife.. wat exactly is the point here...?? was he thinkin that this act of his wud make him the hottest guy around..?? no one wud have cared if he had done this had he not won the award in the first place.. dude, keep in mind that u aint Cruise or Pitt to be liked by people for watever u do.. n this aint the US... he can do watever he wants in his movies.. but not in places like these.. for we kno that his movies r all crap.. ofcourse, no one's gonna imitate him doin this.. but its abt the way one should carry their self especially when he/she's a celebrity n more importantly atleast after bein awarded with one of the most coveted civilian awards...

It was the Government's mistake in awardin him Padmashri though.. i definitely do not know if he really deserved the award, but i can definitely say that even if one doesnt deserve the award, he/she must atleast try n behave responsibly atleast for the sake of it.. afterall, he was given this award which should have been given to a lot of other deservin guys around.. especially the Olympic medalists.. isnt that good enough for a country with a billion people...?? n more importantly the Maestro Ilaiyaraja who hasnt won any of the Padma awards.. damn.. he has won the National Award thrice and the State government awards from all the southern states.. n he's composed music for fuckin 900 films.. if this aint enough, he's also been presented with an honorary citizenship and key to the Teaneck township in New Jersey.. (i'm talkin abt Ilaiyaraja here basically coz i'm a south Indian n more importantly, i grew up listenin to his songs.. i kno there are hell a lot of people all over the country.. but this is only an example.. so dont come back to me sayin i'm ignitin the North-South divide)..

Guess the Government is tryin to add glamour to the awards by awardin these guys when there are so many other talented n deservin actors as well... tryin to make it more like a normal cine awards funcion or somethin.. or tryin to impress the huge fan followin of these so as to increase the votebank.. watever...

Getting lost in the crowd...

Now tell me honestly... i wont ask if anyone has ever felt this.. coz i know everyone of us have... n i wanna know how many times one has felt that he/she has got lost in the crowd.. ask any child wat he/she aspires to become in future.. u'll get a variety of answers like.. Scientist, Astronaut, Actor, Musician, Doctor, Singer, Pilot, Architect, Soldier, Commando, Journalist.. n a lot more.. i always thought i cud b one of these when i was young (damn, i still am young) n i dunno why these things get faded away for a lot of us... i still remember me n a few classmates wanted to join the NDA while we were in our tenth... but none of us ever did... n all of us r doin the same thing now... its really sad to think how many of us have lost track of wat we wanted to be durin our childhood..

More importantly, speakin in general, i'm damn sure none of us ever wanted to be software engineers.. infact, there was nothin like that while we were still in school.. ppl used to ask "software who...?" but the fact is : 3 out of 5 engineers passin out in this country became software engineers in the past 5-6 years.. i accept that there still r ppl who follow their dreams.. but the majority...?? lookin at the ppl join IT companies n earnin good n "easy" money has made lot of ppl look upto this profession like anythin.. resultin in the younger ones feelin they wanna do that too... now.. why did this happen.. jus that they too r "gettin lost in the crowd"...!! and wats happenin now.. zero recruitments at colleges, no job opportunities, firings n wat not.. its kinda a situation where almost a generation of young guys having "no job" starin at their faces after completin their degrees.. the main reason i believe is the feeling that one gets - "i can also do that..." damn.. its not about whether u can or u cant.. its about whether u want to or not...!! why the hell have we forgotten this.. n why the hell does this thought occur to our minds only after 2-3 yrs of work...!!?? isnt there anythin that one can do now...?? n wat if one gets married...?? havent these questions crossed ur mind ever...?? y do ppl make u feel that its too late by the time u think abt this...??

Comin to the most important factor (atleast for we Indians).. the Society.. this is the only factor that has been affectin the careers of hell a lot of ppl here.. "IT job is the in thing now.. wat will the society feel if i dont get one like that.. wat will the society say if i do somethin different.." i'm not sayin that we should not care about society n go ahead do wat we wanna do.. but when will the so-called society change...?? thats basically how our parents were brought up.. n how we were brought up... in quite a few cases, its the parents who r against their children's dreams.. reason - who will marry you if u do that...!?? and how will you settle down..!!?? duh.. is marriage important than career aspirations or job-satisfaction...?? why do parents have to do this...?? r they doin this jus because they have the highest care for us.. yes accepted.. but y dont they let their children learn frm their own mistakes... instead, they say.. "everyone's doin it.. why cant u...??" right on the mark.. this is wat i'm talkin abt.. its not abt wat one can or cant do.. its abt wat one wants to do...!!

Finally, our teachers n professors.. damn.. if u ask me, they have an impact on the students as much as the parents do.. u can even count the guys who say their profs r their greatest inspiration coz of the thoughts they share, the experience they share, the suggestions/advices they give.. but u can never count the guys who say their profs r useless... this is exactly where students have been losing their confidence.. everytime i watch movies like October Sky, Good Will Hunting, Lions for Lambs.. i always feel why the hell didnt i ever had a prof like this...!! all these 3 movies r based on real life stories.. such amazin stories they r... inspirin movies like these r a rarity in our country.. n the majority of movies r idiotically romance-based...

Whooo... a lot of these things have been crossin my mind in the past week.. jus have a feelin that this mite lead to somethin.. i really hope it will.. feelin happy that i've let these feelings out of my mind... kinda happy that i've created a blog to let out my feelings...

A sad day indeed..

I was in for a shock last nite when i logged in.. came to kno that one of my childhood friends/neighbour Vikram died in a bike accident early mornin on sunday.. though we were not very much in touch offlate, we spent a lot of time together durin our childhood roamin around and playin cricket in our street, which almost every kid in our country does.. n the friendships develops at this point of time can never be forgotten by anyone.. i was always waitin for the school to get over to come back home n play cricket, afterall... was a real nice guy.. was among the best of us all.. the first guy who took coachin for cricket and even represented some school and division teams... also a great keyboard player.. n a part of the band The Black Dahlia... he was a kinda guy who irritates u a bit, but even then u wud like to have him around for his friendly nature... very helpful guy indeed.. thinkin of those days brin back good old memories that i had in madras where i spent the whole of my childhood.. makes me miss those things a lot again...

really sorry for you Vikram... RIP bro... we will miss u a lot... :(

drive carefully guys...

Rah-mania again...!!

How can I not write a post after what has happened today...!! afterall, this is wat i was waitin for since almost a month... many of my predictions turned out to b correct.. n more importantly Rahman... he did it...!! i've been tellin that somethin made me feel he'll win the Oscar.. n well-deservingly, he won 2 of them.. wat more can i expect...!!! so humble even after winnin 2 Oscars.. its this nature of his.. bein down-to-earth.. that has made him reach such great heights.. so great... yet so simple.. its probably this nature of many people that make them successful in their life.. n more importantly "happy"...!! that was very clearly visible on his face.. thankin his singers.. his musicians.. his mom.. n more importantly the Almighty..!! Ellam pughazhum Iraivanukke...!!!

Comin to Slumdog Millionaire.. was very happy to see the child actors there.. i mean.. leave all the talk about mumbai bein shown in a bad light.. not-such-a-good-movie talks.. celebrities slammin the movie etc.. it was about the happiness in the faces of cast n the crew all thru the show.. it was very amazin to see Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Kate Winslet cheer the child actors wen they were gettin onto the dais wen Best Picture Oscar was awarded.. the young Jamals, Salims and Latikas probably didnt even knew who these great actresses were.. n the whole audience givin a standin ovation was such a wonderful sight that doesnt happen all the time... truly the children were the heart n soul of the movie... they truly deserved every clap n applause at the Kodak theatre..

As for the other awards.. Slumdog Millionaire very honestly deserved the awards in the technical categories like Sound Mixing.. Editing.. Cinematography as i had already mentioned in my previous posts.. Penelope Cruz's fainting thing.. n her spanish words.. Kate's emotions.. Heath Ledger for Supportin Actor.. were all truly deservin.. n a bit moving...

One thing i'm afraid of now is if Rahman will be lost to Hollywood.. n probably lesser movies in Tamil n Hindi.. that wud b a very sad thing on one side.. but will b good to see an Indian talent bein recognised world-wide.. watever happens, happens for good.. lets hope for the best...!!!

Bollywood movies premiers in US/UK

Why...?? wats the whole point in doing this...??

Last year, it was Om Shanti Om to have its premier in London.. n more recently, CC2C premiered in New York.. 2 weeks back, it was Billu which premiered in London.. n now.. Delhi 6 premieres in NY again..

Alright.. accepted that these movies have huge markets in the 2 countries.. but wats the point.. the hardcore fans r here in India.. this is where they get a huge chunk of profits from... these guys wanna lure the Hollywood production houses...?? if so, wat happened with CC2C... Warner Bros endin up losing their money/reputation.. the same happened with Walt Disney for Roadside Romeo.. Sony for Saawariya.. Warner again for some movie which i dont remember... probably there r few more to come..

Its time for these production houses to give importance to the content/story rather than jus bein happy about deals with the Bollywood bigwigs...

psst: let me kno if i'm missin somethin here.. age old Hollywood producers cant be so dumb.. can they...??

Was I stunned or.. was I stunned...!!??

Yes.. i was really stunned after watchin this sci-fi movie The Man From Earth and i'm still under the cast that this movie has spell on me.. i'm doin nothin but think about this movie.. its not even been 24 hours since i saw the movie for the first time, n i've already seen it thrice till now.. n i dunno how many more times i'm gonna watch it... this was the first time i ever saw a movie twice continuously without a break.. there have been movies which almost convinced me of watchin it again like The Last Samurai, Shawshank Redemption, The Truman Show etc.. but i never did... (i've seen them at a later time though...) i mean.. there r these protagonist characters in some movies which we feel we wanna b in our real life.. these r all some of them... n this character John Oldman in this movie is (the best) wat i would like to be if it is possible at all...

The film is about a guy who claims to be 14,000 years old and how he manages to convince his colleagues/friends (or maybe not.. watch the movie.. :P) that he really is.. n all his experiences in his lifetime.. (14,000 years is quite a lifetime.. aint it...??) the movie relies entirely on the conversation that this group of people has and that too in a house.. infact, in jus a hall.. highly intellectual i must say.. its a movie that kinda surpasses time n space.. it jus gets u goin frm the beginnin... with some thunderbolt kinda shocks in the middle.. one such at almost an hour into the movie... "Wat the...!!??" is wat u'll feel.. i guarantee...

The movie definitely rises a lot discussions.. very high level discussions indeed..  but u jus keep sittin there n watch it without anythin u can say until its over... one thing i felt durin the course of movie is that some devout christians might not like the movie jus coz the topics/discussions that arise.. but, at the end, the more u think about it, the more it'll make u feel that anything is possible.. the more it'll start to make sense to u... ofcourse, there r quite a few logical questions that u mite ask a guy who claims to be 14,000 years old.. like drivin license, social security number (this movie bein American) and other such stuff.. but this will mean u believe wat he says.. the more significant claim that he's that old.. the screenplay perfectly jus doesnt have that.. really need to appreciate the writer here.. n afterall, its jus a moooovie u kno... there's obviously no logic in a lot of high budget sci-fi movies.. n its not fair if u ask me if this one has any.. also, i wanted the movie to be more lengthier.. atleast 30 more minutes of absolute trance i wud say...

I am really very happy to have seen this movie.. a sci-fi movie made at modest budget of jus $200,000.. with no CG or SFX n no flyin superheroes or gadgets or satellites.. nothing...!!! its a movie that is thought provoking.. highly intellect.. with a lot of interestin history facts.. all this in jus a conversation between a group of teachers/professors.. wat more can u expect...!!??

This movie is highly recommended to all those who believe sci-fi movies can be made at low budgets.. or for those who'll atleast start to believe the same once they watch this movie.. :P

The best way to watch this movie is to download it from the internet (torrents n stuff..) as a matter of fact, the producers themselves have thanked BitTorrent for havin made this movie available on the internet (illegally ofcourse) and obviously for the free marketing.. a lot of ppl have downloaded frm the internet.. so go ahead.. download this movie.. (the producers will be more than happy...) my friend Praveen is one such guy.. n i've no words to thank him for this gem..

I have no problem in promotin a movie like this.. do visit this site once.. http://www.manfromearth.com/index.html

psst:
1. the guy who plays the lead character John Oldman looks a lot like Robert DeNiro...
2. more importantly, it wud have been nice if u read this post after watchin the movie... ;)

What a PATHANic match...!!

Ohh man.. wat a match it was...

I started watchin the match (at my friend's place) only after 5 overs of the Srilankan innings.. score was 53 for no loss then.. was a very good score indeed.. n with the form that Dilshan and Jayasuriya were in, they could easily set a target of somewhere aroung 180-190... that too with Pathan having dropped a sitter in the very first over and with some great decisions by the dumb umpires...

Then came a real stunner from Ishant.. a stunnin single handed catch to dismiss Jayasuriya.. (but the NeoCricket a**holes werent even showin the replay of the catch, an ad turned up within 2 seconds of the catch bein taken..) but the bad part was.. even as the wickets kept fallin, the runs were bein scored constantly.. thanks to the great decisions by the umpires and also the not-so-good fielding by the Indians...

Srilankans were on somethin around 150 in 16 point somethin overs when i stopped watchin the match.. had to go for dinner and then rush home... but unfortunately didnt get to watch the innings completely.. then again after sometime, jus got to see that Indians were on 59/2 in 6 overs after havin lost the openers jus 2 overs into the innings... stopped watchin there as i had some work...

This mornin, the first thing i did was to watch the highlights on the tv.. i had no idea who won the match n i didnt even wanna know the same frm the newspaper or news channels.. jus wanted to watch the highlights... i wasnt expectin wat i saw.. 5 wickets fell for jus 34 runs.. Yuvi, Raina, Dhoni, Rohit and Jadeja..!!! all of them for jus 34 runs.. i never really thought there were any chances left for India to win the match.. havin required to score 62 frm some 34 balls wen the Pathan brothers were on the crease, i thought India would end up somewhere around 150-160..

But the Pathan brothers were just amazing.. brilliant.. watever.. 17 runs frm Bandara's over made me think there were still some chances left for us... runs kept comin quite easily after that.. with Fernando givin away extras n juicy deliveries, there was no stoppin Yusuf n Irfan.. the last winnin six was the best and stylish way to win the match... it was jus the brothers' day indeed... n afterall, we r the world champs..!!

Rah-mania

I must say this.. i really must say this...

I dunno why... jus a day after watchin Rahman recieve his Globe for score in Slumdog, i happened to watch Nicolas Cage's Lord of War movie with no idea that his composition for Bombay (the movie's soul-stirring Theme music) was used as a bgm for the movie.. n it was at a very important part of the movie.. the theme was absolutely in blend... i was jus very happy that this happened.. but i didnt think deeply at that.. jus thought it was a mere coincidence n carried on.. now this was more than a week back..

Today, i happened to watch Uma Thurman's The Accidental Husband.. n guess wat.. its not one.. but its THREE...!! yes.. 3 compositions of Rahman were used in the movie..

Yaaro Yarodi (Alai Payuthey)
Rang De (Thakshak) - both these in the course of the movie
Swasamae (Thenali) - n this one during the credits

I was very reluctant to watch this movie jus coz of its rating on IMDb.. but thought i would just watch for The Bride's sake... ofcourse, the movie aint that good... but that thing apart, i never really expected this to happen.. 3 of his compositions...!!? come on.. u must be kiddin me... now wat do i call this.. coincidence again...?? n this movie came into light not very long back.. but in October 2008.. jus at the time when Slumdog was creatin buzz at the film festivals across UK n the US... now this.. a coincidence again...??

And this song "Swasamae" has jus captured me all over again.. i used to listen to the song like crazy when it first released.. n now i'm jus as crazy.. so much that i repeatedly kept watchin the credits... this song too was in absoulte sync with the movie's plot.. n one interestin thing here.. can u imagine how the Americans would react on listening to the lyrics "Idadhu kannaale ahimsaigal seidhai.. valadhu kannaale vanmurai seidhai..." i mean.. its abt the meaning.. and also the fact it-sounds-so-differently-rhyming for them.. watever... :D

I do know that this aint a very big deal.. but dunno why.. i really gettin a feelin that Rahman will win an Oscar.. me comin across this has got nothin to do with the Oscar.. but.. i really dunno why..

psst: there was one very good scene in the movie though.. the male lead proposes a toast to The Bride.. yes.. Thurman plays a role of a bride in the movie.. coincidence again.. :D

www.oscar.com

Yes.. this will be my homepage for the next 30 days for sure.. with Rahman being nominated for 3 Oscars, who would want to miss the SHOW.. 22nd of Februry is all i'm waiting for...!!!

It really feels great just to see Rahman being nominated for Oscars along with Thoman Newman (a 8-time Oscar nominee) and James Newton Howard (a 7-time Oscar nominee).. can you even think of that...!!?? Winning the Oscar for Original Score will be the best that Rahman can get.. n that too gettin past these 2 geniuses... you should jus listen to Howard's score for films like Blood Diamond, Michael Clayton to get to know how brilliant he is.. the same goes for Newman with scores for films like Shawshank Redemption, Scent of a Woman and Finding Nemo... thats the reason i really doubt if Rahman can win the Oscar for Original Score.. he's got only a mere 20% chance here... :(

But.. but... i can bet anything on him winning the award for Original Song.. this is for sure.. for real sure... 2 of the best soundtracks n my favourites from the album, O Saya and Jai Ho being nominated.. i'm damn sure he's gonna win this one without any doubt... he must win atleast for the sake of numbers.. yea.. he's got 67% chance here...!!! (only 3 nominees in all for this award..)

Comin to the movie Slumdog Millionaire, with the other 7 nominations, i expect it to win atleast 2-3 more.. seein the way its been attractin people worldwide n the attention its been drawin.. it shud win awards for Editing, Directing (given quite a few of the Globe awardees have won the Oscar too) and probably Adapted Screenplay...

However, i honestly do not know how well the the movie is gonna be recieved here in India.. as its releasin tomorro.. its not a movie that has dance.. or fights.. or indian-sentiment.. or dialogues.. or drama.. duh.. i mean its not a Bollywood movie u kno.. n these guys here r all celebratin n goin ga ga over it.. not even knowin how the movie is gonna be.. n do u think the dumb, dumb bollywood actors n filmi personalities would like it...!!?? Hell they wont...!! but they wont show it.. thats the thing...!!! they wud come out of the preview n say "this is wat we want to see.." "great to see hollywood and bollywood come together.." "wow.. its a giant leap for bollywood.." "we have proved to the world that we produce quality movies".. wat... i didnt hear it.. wat did u jus say...!!??? there was no producer or director here to make this book into a movie.. fyi - the book Q&A was published in 2005.. n it took a brit to identify and make a movie based on it... duh.. watever... no worries as long as good things come out of this...

Comin back to the Oscars.., i must mention the movie that i was very curious to watch since i first came across the storyline some 3-4 months back.. i 've been jus very curious since then.. yes.. i'm talkin abt The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.. the storyline is somethin that one cannot even imagine of happening.. n quite obvious that it wont ever happen... but its got 13 goddamn nominations.. winnin 5 out of 13 wouldnt be a surprise.. one for Makeup is pretty obvious.. with other nominees bein Dark Knight and Hellboy.. there's no stoppin Benjamin boy here.. n the other for Costume Design.. would u even believe that the filmmakers worked very hard to get the vintage clothing frm Levi's...!!?? one for Cinematography, one for Art Direction.. n hopefully one for Brad Pitt... hope he wins atleast this time...

My guess for the Best Movie would be Milk.. only for the storyline it has.. hope Slumdog gets it.. but, its been a very rare thing for a movie to win both the Globe n an Academy...

So.. here we go.. the wait starts for Hugh Jackman to start off with his presentation on the 22nd Feb.. hopin that SRK wouldnt turn up n do his so-called pelvic dance (that he threatened to do at the Globes) at the ceremony... pray for Roooman.. no.. Raaaman... na.. Rahman...!! :)

psst: sorry for the number crunching there.. kya karoon... control nahi hota... engineer u kno... :P

Rahman...!!

Rahman here... Rahman there... Rahman Rahman everywhere... he just rightly deserved the Globe.. no doubt in that... i happened to listen to the soundtrack before watching the movie... had got dumbstruck with no words.. n after i watch the movie... the songs seem better than ever... felt like as if i was struck by the Lightning "Godfather" Bolt...!!!

I was only wondering why Kate Beckinsale had that difficulty in pronouncing Rahman's name.. wat was that.. Rooman...?? Raaaman...?? Come on.. its jus plain Rahman.. pronounced Reh-man... these guys dont have difficulty in pronouncing Shia LaBeouf or Darren Aronofsky.. but, pronouncin Rahman is a problem eh... watever...

And even before i have even completely extracted the juice frm Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack.., Rahman has come once again with a brilliant album... Delhi 6...!!! - this has made me almost write a review here on my blog...

Ohh man... wat an album... jus awesome... this stands right there at the top of his compositions.. jus got no words to explain the feeling that i get on listening to Masakali and Rehna Tu... i was always impressed by Mohit's voice in the JWM song Tum Se Hi... n no doubt, he has almost managed to kill me with his voice in Masakali.. especially the LAUGH towards the end of the song... Rehna Tu has superb rendition from Rahman... n the way the song is carried towards the end.. where is the carnatic coming from...!!??

Jus after listenin to Masakali only once, downloaded a mp3 splitter software.. cut the part with the mouth organ bit... n set it as my ringtone... such is the influence...

Rakeysh happens to be one lucky s-o-b.... if u've been thinkin RDB's soundtrack was gr8.., you aint seen nothin yet... or rather.. you aint heard nothin yet...!!!

My stint with the "Bangalore City Traffic Police" - II

Well.. nothin much happened this time... i was actually thinkin of gettin a fake proof or somethin frm a bike service shop sayin my bike was on service that day.. (i could have done this coz the place where i needed to show the proof was different from where the previous encounter took place... :D)

But.. it jus didnt happen.. i was not interested in doin that.. didnt want to waste much time on that actually.. wud have been a long process i guess.. me gettin a bill of some sort.. then takin it to the Enforcement Center.. talkin to the people there.. n with the way they wud have spoken to me or treated me etc.. thought i wud better pay the fine than come across these things...

so.. went to the Bangalore One centre(as per my parents wish).. n paid the fine this morning.... hope this doesnt repeat again... n if it does, i really am not sure of wat i'm gonna do... maybe take it up seriously... or maybe pay the fine again... (really doubt if the latter wud happen though..)

My stint with the "Bangalore City Traffic Police"

1st Jan, 2009 - Just after an hour or so after creating my blog, i get a notice frm the police.. yes.. this year hasnt started off on a very good note for me.. was shocked to get a Violation Notice from the so-called "Enforcement Automation Centre".. a division of the Bangalore City Traffic Police (wonder why they do not know that its Bengaluru now).. infact, a series of shocks to me in the same notice..

Shock No. 1 -

Offence : NOT WEARING HELMET TO HEAD WHILE RIDING THE VEHICLE.. (i've never been out on my vehicle without my helmet on..)

Shock No. 2 -

Place : JC Nagara Police Station Junction.. (honestly, i've never been to that area till daybefore yesterday..)

Shock No. 3 -

Time & Date : 1015 hrs.. 06-Dec-08 (WTF..!! its a saturday.. had gone to bed late on friday night and woke up on saturday at around 11...)

Fine payable Rs. 100 (Rupees One Hundred Only)..

duh...!! its not about the money.. its about the damn fact that i was in a deep sleep when this thing happened at all..

2nd Jan, 2009 - I had decided i'm not gonna pay these useless idiots.. n that i'll go to the police station to seek clarification.. but my parents were against me going to the station (still a taboo..) and that i pay the fine at Bangalore One centre instead of paying at a police station... but i sticked to my plan... was never gonna change..

3rd Jan, 2009 - Parents had gone to Hyderabad.. n i decided to callup these guys n seek clarification.. n so i call up the Enforcement Automation Centre first.. they said i needed to callup the police station nearest to the place where the incident took place... (did he say "incident"...!!?? - Goundamani style'la inge oru feeling..SAMBHAVAMAA...!!??)

Alright.. i had to do it.. called up the JC Nagara Police Station.. n i get a reply saying.. "no sir.. even though it is stated that its near our station, this doesnt come under our jurisdiction".. so who the hell should i speak to.. "u need to talk to ppl in Hebbal-RT Nagar police station as they take care of these things".. got the contact number from them n call them up... the guy on phone said "Please come to the station sir.. we can see what is to be done.." I'M INVITED TO THE POLICE STATION.. wow... i'm the first in my family to go the police station...!!!  :D

I reached the place after asking for directions a few times.. infact, quite a lot of times... there i was.. entering the police station for the first time... (uh huh.. so this is it.. a real police station looks like this eh...) asked the constable there about who i needed to speak to abt this "incident".. he said that this wasnt the station to talk abt this.. as it was a normal police station.. n i needed to go to the Traffic Police Station (my first stint at the police station turned out to be a damp squib..

I was told that the traffic police station was abt a hundred metres down the road.. went there.. n wasnt able to find anything that looked like a police station.. n wen i asked a guy at the nearby roadside shop, was directed to a building which was looking nothing like a police station. infact it wasnt looking like it was occupied by anyone at all.. n wen i went inside, it looked exactly like an old abandoned building u wud see in a movie like Kakha Kakha or Khakee or Ransom... went to the second floor where i could hear some voices.. thought thank god, there are some people in this place... quickly learnt that it was also the Traffic Control Room for the area.. wen i heard someone sayin on the microphone "hello.. traffic control room..." (watever.. hoped to get a clarification atleast here..)

Pic above - The building frm outside.. with absolutely no boards or hoardings on it...

I met a constable again there by name Mohan.. showed him the notice.. he stared at me for a moment.. then at the notice.. he kept staring at it for so long that i had to "wake" him up.. he then went to his table n took out a bunch of sheets which were "Traffic Violation Reports" submitted by various traffic constables.. there were a zillion of them.. this guy kept turning them one by one.. for almost 20-30 minutes.. to find the one which had the details of my offense... there it is.. my HOPE..

He took that out frm the file n showed me the details submitted by one particular traffic constable (that useless drunken daawwwwg..) who was on duty that particular day.. he then showed me the register where the constable had signed for his duty that day.. he had written my bike's registration number very clearly on the violation report, as if he stood very next to my bike n noted down the number... (but the fact - my bike was parked at my home at that time).. Constable Mohan wasnt ready to listen to me n he told me that i needed to show the proof that i was not at the place where i was noticed for riding without helmet... was like WTF again.. how the hell can i show the proof of me being asleep at that time...!!!?? i asked him if he had any video proof that it was me there riding without helmet.. got in return a stare with a strange grimace on his face.. almost conveying "WAT..?? U KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO.. DONT YOU...??" (alright.. it was too much of me to ask that question to a constable.. as if he committed some crime..) but i had no other option...

He finally said i can now only go to the Enforcement Automation Centre(EAC) to seek any furthur clarification now, as his duty of showing me the proof was over.. alright man.. all i'm saying is i was sleeping and my bike was parked at my home wen this so-called incident happened... how can even this be possible...!!!??? but no use.. he refused to say anything... came back home with all HOPES gone waste... :(

4th Jan, 4009 - I tried calling up the EAC to find if there was any use going there at all.. did some 5-6 toimes.. but no one was answering the calls.. duh.. this is it.. i gave up hope, didnt want to waste any more time n will better pay the fine (ofcourse, without having committed the offence..) also, the notice said "Failure to pay the fine is an offence, which shall be punishable with an imprisonment for a term of which may extend to 3 months or with fine which may extend to Rs. 500/- or with both. We accept Cash or DD's" (wonder why dont they accept credit cards)

Today - On my way back home, went to a traffic police station which was on the way.. but get an answer saying "the server is down.. please pay the fine after 2-3 days.." here we go.. after all these things, there is still something that is preventing me from paying the fine.. wat could that be... HOPE again...!!??? what should i do now...!!??? am i missing something...!!??  is there any proof i can show that i was asleep at home...!!???

New Year's Eve...

People still wanna have crackers, party, songs, dance, cakes, beach for the eve.. but come on.. these have become very common n usual..  why dont they try something new.. something different...  so i decided i had to n i did... i had the best new year's eve this time and after a real long time...

yes.. i started for home early frm the office... played the guitar.. saw tv.. had dinner.. n peacefully SLEPT... so peaceful that i woke up only at 8 this morning... after 12 hours of deep sleep... n i did have all the parties, songs, crackers in my dreams... all these things absolutely free of cost.. wat other better way to hide from the so-called financial recession huh...?? (but the worst thing here is the fact that i've been in the financial recession ever since i started working... :P)

they say "new year brings us.. new dreams.. better hopes.. improved expectations... better prospects... ooohhh... aaaahhhh.. yeaaaaa... etc.. etc..."

Ohh yea... i'm really lookin forward to them with HOPE... :)

First Post...

Yea.. I've been bitten by the blog-bug too.. so here we go... one more blogger to puke his feelings all over...

Starting off on 1st Jan, 2009... this really doesnt make a difference to me... but for namesake, the mention of 1st Jan has an inner feeling to it... aint it...?? duh.. watever...!!

One thing i'm really worried is.. whether i will have to think about what and how to write... coz i've nt been doing that off late... (yep.. i meant both thinking and writing.. :P) so.. i expect there'll b a lot of gap between the posts...

So.. wishin myself good luck, lets see how it goes... evlavo pannitom.. idhu panna maattomaa..!!!

ps: the reason i named my blog this way is jus that "thewayiseeit" was not available.. n nothin else... ;)
